Sportsman's Lodge is located in a fantastic wilderness setting north of Red Lake, Ontario. On the shores of Little Vermilion Lake, the lodge is accessible only by float plane. Little Vermilion Lake is famous for trophy-sized Northern Pike. Walleye fishing is also excellent. We are the only lodge on the lake, so we provide a clean, uncomplicated, unpolluted, relaxing atmosphere. We are dedicated to offering our guests excellent fishing and/or hunting, top service, the finest equipment, warm hospitality, and reasonable rates.
What is Sportsman’s Lodge.....
Sportsman’s Lodge is not a large, fancy, resort-style facility with all the fast paced activities normally associated with such an operation.
Sportsman’s Lodge is a small, clean, family-operated camp, dedicated to offering our guests excellent fishing and / or hunting, top service, the finest equipment, warm hospitality, reasonable rates and a relaxing atmosphere.
Oh yes - we do have a few of the necessary trimmings, such as satellite internet, 24-hour telephone service, 24-hour a day electricity supplied from our own generators, television, an ice-making machine, etc., but basically, we are just what the name implies - a spot where the Sportsman can get back to nature and enjoy outstanding fishing or hunting, in a clean, uncomplicated, unpolluted and relaxing environment.
NO KILL TROPHY PIKE POLICY
In the interest of further increasing our guests potential to catch trophy pike, we have enhanced our catch & release policy, which we initiated in 1982. Now all Pike over 35.5” (100%) will be released, assuring continued world class, high end, trophy pike production for our future generations.
OUR MAIN BASE
 
We have built our Lodge “ way out beyond the highways”, accessible only by float-equipped aircraft. The main lodge is built of logs hewn on the spot. Separate guest cabins are built of log-sheeting, and are line
and insulated. The guest units are served daily, (under our American Plan) are spotlessly clean and are equipped with comfortable beds, clean white linen, warm woolen blankets, towels, propane cooking stoves, wood heaters, refrigerators, hot and cold running water with flush toilets and showers, and 24 hour a day electricity supplied by our own AC generating plant, (plus cooking and eating utensils under our Canadian Plan). We also have new satellite internet for your convenience.
With your interests in mind, we operate an All-Inclusive Hunting Plan, and our Canadian Plan.

MONARCH OF THE CANADIAN WOODS ***THE LORDLY MOOSE***
This is truly the home of the lordly moose. Our very high percentage of kills every year gives ample proof of our claim. Hunting may be done within a few minutes of camp. Every care is taken to see that your kill is prepared and maintained in excellent condition. Moose hunting is our specialty.
Many of our hunters get their moose early in the week, so you may care to bring a little fishing gear to take advantage of our fine fishing - but please remember, the airways do require you to keep your weight down.
There are also bear, ducks, geese, partridge, etc. which may be taken within a very few minutes of camp. We would like to see you take home a highly rewarding bag of both game and birds.
Myself and my guides know this area thoroughly - know the habits of game and their movements throughout the whole season. We take a limited number of hunters each week to assure you of safer and better hunting. All plans should be made far in advance. We urge you to place your reservation as EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
