The bass fishing for smallmouth is excellent in the Mattawamkeag River which is about 1 mile below camps. It may be less known than some of the other bass fishing spots in Maine, but the fishing may be better. There is a good chance you may be the only one fishing it. I have been told by some of the guests it is the best smallmouth fish they ever had. There is also Wytopitlock Lake a few miles away and many other small ponds streams to fish in the area. Some are remote with hike in access only, with opportunity for fishing for bass, pickerel, perch and at times brook trout.
I offer guided trips, on the river and into some of the more remote ponds. I can also provide you with canoes if you want to fish on your own. Most of the landings in the area are not accessible for large boats.

BEAR HUNTING
Maine has over 20,000 black bear and the heaviest concentration of bruins per square mile, Maine has the highest black bear population in the country, making it a bear hunter’s dream. My black bear hunting , is located in the midst of prime bear country—southern Aroostook County, and northern Penobscot county which is Wildlife Management District 11 in the eastern part of Maine. The terrain in this part of the state is hilly and rugged, with thick, dense underbrush, making for perfect bear habitat and an exciting and challenging black bear hunt. Our black bear hunting guides will lead you through this exciting bear hunt. Forestry is a big industry here in Maine, and the abundance of roads cut through the big timber, gives us easy access to thousands of acres of both Maine public hunting land and private land.

Deer Hunts
Deer hunting in Maine is known for many different things. The good side is heavy bodies many over the 200 pound mark and large racks to top them off. The remote almost endless woods with light hunting pressure. But on the down side it also can be tough hunting if you don’t know the area. The area around my camps is no different there are a few very large deer taken every year, but in all honesty the majority of deer are spikes 4 and 6 pointers. What I can say is most hunters over the last 2 years have seen a buck while staying here. Deer hunting has different meaning for every hunter, some want to bring home some venison, a trophy rack is what others are after, some for the experience of hunting in Maine. Give me a call or send an e-mail, I don’t want you to come here and be disappointed, so lets discuss the possibilities of what your looking for!
I offer guided Maine deer hunts for bow and rifle, which is a stand hunt I have stands and blinds, located on deer trails scrape lines and rub lines. I will bring you out before day light check on you around noon time at which time we may move to another location if I feel there is a better chance, At dusk I will pick you up at your stand. In the past I have done still-hunting and tracking with my hunters, but in my experiences this is the hardest way to put a tag on a deer. We may see more deer this way but most often the deer are moving through the thick woods, and rarely provided a shot. I have 2 camps in wytopitlock and 2 camps in Silver Ridge TWP about 10 miles away, that I rent out to deer hunters. This is Sunday through Saturday. I try to have you arrive at camp as soon as possible, which in some cases such as the first week of the season could be the Friday before. This gives us time so that I can go over some maps and show you some of the roads and specific spots where you should find some deer. If I have blinds or stands in the area you will be welcome to use them. If your looking for still hunting or tracking opportunity this is what I recommend, and will point out specific areas which will help to make your hunt successful.
Moose Hunting
Moose hunting is by permit only please contact me for more information on how to apply. We offer guided hunts for those with permits for zone 11, we may hunt in many different ways from calling to road hunting to hunting from a canoe, I have the experience to provide a hunt of a life time, and the equipment to get the moose out easily.

Canoe trips
This area has many waters for canoe trips from the Mattawamkeag River to the many streams and ponds in the area, most are best suited for day trips, and would be considered easy flat water, which means they are great for kids to enjoy. The water level stays up in these places and even in the driest weather there are many places to canoe.
I offer both guided trips using my canoes or can provide drop off and pick ups if your looking to go on your own.

Camps
The main camps are located in wytopitlock, where I have a 6 man camp, a 4 man camp and soon to come a 2 man camp.
The six-man camp has 3 bunk beds in a large open room, a complete kitchen that includes gas stove, microwave crock-pot coffee pot refrigerator, pots and pans dishes and utensils. It has electricity and running water a bathroom with a toilet and shower. There is a TV and a VCR; we don’t get much for stations here so should plan to bring along a few of your favorite tapes.
The four man camp has 2 bunk beds in which are separated in different rooms, a complete kitchen gas stove microwave, coffee pot refrigerator pots and pans dishes and silverware. There is a TV and a VCR; we don’t get much for stations here so should plan to bring along a few of your favorite tapes. It dose not have running water, but there is a bath room shower and toilet located at my house which is designated specifically for this camp available at all times.
I also have camps located in Silver Ridge TWP about 12-15 miles away through the woods. This is a small 4-man camp, which is all open except for the bathroom. It has power and runnings water a toilet and shower. 2 bunk beds a gas stove refrigerator pots and pans dishes and utensils.
